We run an appointment system in all the practices with a wide range of appointment times available from 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
When you request an appointment, you will be given a time at which the doctor or nurse hopes to be able to see you. You should not wait more than 30 minutes in the waiting room without receiving an explanation for any delays.
Appointments can be made by either telephoning or calling into the surgery you normally attend.
The Practice is also open between 7.30am and 8.30am every Tuesday morning (Except after Bank Holiday Mondays) at DOUGLAS Surgery. We are also open alternating Monday evenings at RIGSIDE and COALBURN Surgery from 5.30pm and 6.30pm, except on bank holidays. These additional opening times are by appointment only.
Please note that the practice is closed on Bank Holidays.
You can receive telephone advice from the GP or practice nurse by telephoning the Surgery that you normally attend between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday. The receptionist will ask for a brief outline of the problem and give an estimated time to as to when the GP or practice nurse will call back.
Patients are able to access a receptionist by telephone from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
Please note that all incoming and outgoing telephone calls from the practice are recorded for training purposes.
These are intended for those who are either too ill to attend the surgery or are housebound.
Requests for home visits should be made before 10.30am by telephoning the surgery you normally attend.
Please note that we are a training practice. Doctors training with us are fully qualified medical practitioners who have a wide experience in hospitals and should be treated as your own doctor.
Occasionally we have medical students sitting in on consultations. Prior to such a consultation your permission will be sought. It is perfectly acceptable for you to object and see your doctor on your own. Some consultations may also be videoed for training purposes but this will only happen with the patient's written consent.
We currently have 1 Registrar in the Practice at the moment and she is Dr Shanthala Mallaiah
