Practice News

January 2021 sees the departure of 2 of our GP Colleagues, Dr Frances Lunny and Dr Jamie Torrens.

They have both contributed a huge amount to the practice and the wider community during their time at Douglasdale Medical Practice and we wish them all the best in their new endeavours.

Covid Vacinations for the over 80's

The Health Board has asked us to deliver Covid vaccines for our over 80's patients. By the end of January 2021 we will have vaccinated all our ambulatory patients at 6 clinics throughout the practice area, including Abington, and a significant number of our housebound patients. If you are over 80 and housebound we WILL get to you shortly, please bear with us.

Online Chronic Disease reviews

As we are unable to see the same number of patients in the surgery as normal, we are trialling a system of online reviews for our chronic disease monitoring. You may be sent a text message with a link to an online review. For more information on this system please see https://medlinksolutions.co.uk/testimonials/

COVID - 19 Corona Virus

To protect our patients and our staff and to maintain social distancing in the waiting rooms, we are continuing to work with the front door closed. Please arrive on time for your appointment and attend alone where possible. Please knock loudly when you arrive, but be aware that staff may not be able to open the door straight away if they are answering the telephone.

Please DO NOT attend the surgery if you are suffering from any Covid related symptoms, but call the surgery for advice.

You are also required to wear a face covering when attending the surgery.

At the present time we are not booking face to face appointments with a GP. If you need to see the Doctor you will be offered a telephone appointment. If the Doctor cannot deal with your issues over the telephone, they will offer you a face to face appointment.

If you have

  • a high temperature or fever
  • a new continuous cough
  • a loss of, or change in sense of smell or taste

DO NOT ENTER THE SURGERY Phone or NHS 111 for further advice where your call will be triaged and you may be directed to attend a Covid Assessment Centre.
